Michigan Living Wills

Health Care Directives

A Michigan Living Will (often referred to as a Health Care Directive) allows you to make decisions regarding your health care should you ever be incapacitated or otherwise unable to communicate.  If you do not want a feeding tube should there be no chance of recovery, you can state that in a Living Will.  LegacyWriter allows you to create a valid and legal Living Will in the state of Michigan.

Michigan Requirements

A legal Michigan Living Will must meet these requirements:

  • The principal (person creating document) must be an adult.
  • Principal must be of sound mind.

Agent

In a Living Will you state what health care you want to receive at the end of life.  When using LegacyWriter to create your Michigan Living Will, you can also appoint someone to enforce your wishes.  This can be a Agent appointed in a separate Health Care Power of Attorney, or in some cases the Agent may be named in the Living Will; our questionnaire will walk you through the options available to you.  With an Agent you will have a person you trust to act on your behalf.
